#Trow back, Songs we listen to in our early 2000s

When the Hiphop music was brewing up in
Nigeria in late 1990s and early 2000s music
lovers then where lucky enough to rock these
evergreen hits when it was fresh.
And to those that were only exposed to
modern day heavy churn out of songs, worry
less we’ve got you covered with this incredible
list of old hits.

Wale Thompson: Lalale Friday
Wale Thompson did justice to this song, it was
one of the pioneering hiphop songs for the
Friday night crawlers it was indepth and clubs
rocked it hard then. You remember the song?
Remedies: Shakomo
Remedies group was the biggest then, they
churned out many hits before their split. The
group consisted of Tony Tetuila, Eddy Montana
and Eedriz Abdul Kareem. Shakomo was a big
hit do you still remember its lyrics? How about
Jealousy and others?
Maintain: Catch Cold
Olu and Tolu maintain with their manager, Big
Bamo were big then, with their funny songs
and lyrics they were known for comical songs.
One of their numerous hit was ‘Catch Cold”
that was acted like a film you remember? It
was big in the early 2000s.
Plantazion Bioz: You And I
The incredible trio of Faze, 2Face and Black
Face were dope then with lovely solo songs
best of which was You and I, am sure you are
singing along right now big one it was. They
have other songs like ‘Knock me Off’ among
others lovely songs. Their split wasn’t a
blessing to Nigerian music industry.

Featured Olamide – Pasuma
Styl Plus: Olufunmi
Style plus consisting of Tunde, Shifi and zeal
won fans over with their lovely voice and their
solo hit Olufunmi. Who wouldn’t love that
romantic single? Guys used it then to win
ladies over.
Azadus: You Is The One
Azadus became fans delight with his evergreen
love song, You Is The One. This song is
evergreen.
Jazzman Olofin Ft Adewale Ayuba: Raise the
Roof
Raise the roof was a blend of Hiphop and Fuji
back then it was epic and rocked dancehall in
the early 2000s. Jazzman went solo after this
song, but his impact remains evergreen.

Raqui: Soji
Soji hun, soji hun toba ti dagbo ko soji hun,
feels like singing along and stop writing. Which
club would dare not play this jam back then?
Raqui did a good one on it.
Zule Zoo: Kerewa
Kerewa was big and it launched the duo to
Nigerian music scene. It was so popular and
everyone can sing its lyrics. Their follow up
single was also big but they did not last much
in the game.
Mad Melon and Mountain Black: Danfo Driver
Danfo driver completes our list of 10 evergreen
songs since the start of Hiphop music in
Nigerian. It was popular and dance able.
